THE PROJECT // This partnership gives rise to a voice and bass duo, an unusual formation in which the two musicians are on stage with their instruments and effects pedals, exploring music and different ways of expressing it. The repertoire features influences from classic Brazilian popular music as well as original compositions; all with arrangements developed in partnership especially for this project.
THE BLEU ALBUM // In how many languages can a song be savored? To understand a song is to taste it with the tongue, with the ears, with the whole body. Where are the boundaries of a song, of a rhythm, of music?
BLEU, the duo's first album, was born from a longing for the blue of the Brazilian sky and the song Azul, by Djavan. The album brings together seven tracks that traverse Brazilian music beyond the clichés of samba and bossa nova, encompassing composers such as Gilberto Gil, Chico César, and Marcelo Segreto.
The arrangements are original and combine vocals, percussion, double bass, electric bass, and effects pedals to create textures and sonic layers. The project also features collaborations with Rebecca Roger Cruz, Lívia Nestrovski, André Bordinhon, and Daniel Muller, artists who inspire the duo's career.
THE SHOW // The repertoire is structured from a text written by Carlos Canhameiro, who also directs the show, giving it a theatrical dimension. The artists seek to share a deeper and more complex Brazil with the audience, presenting a light and theatrical spectacle that breaks with stereotypes and traditional expectations surrounding Brazilian music.
In recent years, they have had the opportunity to perform at festivals and venues such as the Festival Brasil de la Musique, the Crescent Jazz Festival, the Jazz Club de Grenoble, the Hot Club de Lyon, the Château du Rozier, the Voiron Jazz Festival, and the Fête de la Musique de Saint-Étienne. They have also opened for artists André Minvielle & Lionel Suarez at the Rhino Jazz(s) Festival, and for João Selva at the Marché Gare.
